Our Programs & Participation
How we design experiences - and how to know what's right for your family.
What is the difference between adaptive and inclusive?
Adaptive programs and classes are designed specifically for individuals with disabilities who may benefit from additional structure, supports, or a modified environment in order to have a meaningful and successful experience.
These programs often include:
-
Increased accommodations and individualized support
-
Smaller group sizes or one-to-one instruction
-
A quieter, more predictable environment
-
Caregiver support when appropriate
-
Adaptive programming allows participants to engage at their own pace and in ways that best support their individual needs.
Inclusive programs are designed for all kinds of minds, bodies, and abilities. These programs are the main event and are open to everyone, with thoughtful supports built in so individuals with disabilities can fully participate alongside their peers.
Inclusive programming may include:
-
Sensory-friendly adjustments (such as reduced noise or flexible seating)
-
Visual supports or clear schedules
-
Optional assistive tools or communication supports
-
Flexible participation options
-
Rather than separating participants, inclusive programs focus on belonging, access, and participation, recognizing that people experience and engage with the world in many different ways.
Why both matter!
Both adaptive and inclusive programs are valuable and necessary. Some individuals thrive in adaptive settings, while others benefit from inclusive environments — and many people move between both depending on the activity, setting, or time in their lives.
Our goal is to offer options that respect individual needs while promoting dignity, access, and meaningful participation for all.
Inclusive programs are meant to be for all! When you see inclusive as one of our programs, just know that no matter what level your loved one is at, we can provide a meaningful experience for them. It is the person who has the disability and/or their caregivers responsibility to know what will make them successful. Inclusive programs are not for all kids with disabilities but adaptive programs still need to be offered. We are trying our best.
How do I know if my loved one with a disability is more suited for Adaptive or Inclusive Programming?
Just call or email us and tell us more about them. We can help you determine what will be the best experience for them. Adaptive elements are added to all inclusive events and we will do our best to support you and your loved one.
